Dr Pippa Moran

Clinical Psychologist

Dr Pippa Moran is the founder of Cornwall Clinical Psychology and an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over 14 years experience working in psychology in the NHS.

Pippa has predominantly worked in CAMHS and Paediatrics settings and specialises in work with children, young people and families. She is particularly skilled at delivering short/mid term interventions for anxiety and depression using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She carries out Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder diagnoses as part of a team for young people and adults. She is also able to provide cognitive assessments. Pippa has been working for the family courts as an Expert Witness since 2015.

Jo McNamara-Chard

Jo grew up in Surrey and relocated to Cornwall in 2016. She is an ex Secondary School Drama Teacher. Jo provides clerical and administrative support to Cornwall Clinical Psychology and insure the smooth running of operations across the practice.

Dr Perry Morrison

Chartered Clinical Psychologist

Perry is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society and Health & Social Care Professions Council, who has worked for the NHS, forensic services, voluntary and private sector, in hospitals and in the community, for over 20 years.

He has worked with adults with a wide range of difficulties such as learning disabilities, autism, forensic work, people with severe mental health difficulties, trauma, and personality problems. Perry is also experienced in Expert Witness work for court, relating to forensic risk assessment and family assessments.


Perry is qualified and experienced in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and is an accredited CAT supervisor able to offer supervision to other CAT trainees and therapists or to those wishing to develop skills in cognitive analytic therapy. He has also trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and has previously set up and led a successful DBT Team in an inpatient service. Perry draws on these and other models to inform his practice and also has an interest in ecopsychology (how individuals relate to nature).


Perry currently sees adults, couples and families for assessment and therapy online and face to face, as well as providing supervision to others.

Dr Sally Powis

Chartered Clinical Psychologist

BSc, MSc, CPsychol, DClinPsych, AfBPS

Sally is a Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist specialising in autism, registered with the British Psychological Society and HCPC, who has worked with both autistic children and adults since 1999 in the NHS, third sector and private practice.

She currently works with adults on the autism spectrum of all ability levels and consults to other service providers. She has been involved in setting up autism services in the British Virgin Islands, set up the successful online autistic diagnostic service for Healios and an NHS-funded diagnostic clinic in Oxfordshire. Her work includes autism assessment and diagnosis, therapy to individuals, training other health professionals to assess and diagnose autism, consultation to families and carers, training for various audiences locally, nationally and internationally, consultation to commissioners and providers, and development of autism services.
 

Sally adapts her work to be autism-relevant and draws on different models and frameworks in her therapeutic work, predominantly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Positive Psychology and takes a holistic approach to therapy. She has also undertaken training in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Sally is in high demand for her knowledge, experience and calm approach, and in recent years for her experience of working with autistic people with gender
dysphoria.

Iris works alongside Pippa as a therapy-dog-in-training. Iris is a Hungarian Wirehaired Viszla, specially chosen for her love of people. She tends to be in Pippa's room greeting people that come to visit and then flopping down on the floor! She has been a wonderful addition to the practice and is enjoyed by adults and children alike. Dr Bryony Field

Dr Sophie Augarde

Bryony is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) and is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Bryony works independently providing assessment, therapy, consultation and training to treat the psychological consequences of abuse and trauma for individuals and their systems.

Bryony has developed her skills over 17 years training and working as a Clinical Psychologist in a number of services in the NHS and Social Care including Child Protection, Adults with Learning Disabilities, Community Mental Health Services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Neuropsychology Services and Early Years Services across Cornwall, Devon, Bristol and London.

Bryony is a qualified Cognitive Analytic Therapy practitioner and is skilled in using this approach to help people understand and process the impact of past experiences on their current difficulties by going beyond diagnoses or labels.  She works with the understanding that symptoms of distress are often the result of surviving difficult experiences and as such priority is given to supporting individuals to develop a compassionate understanding of what has happened to them in order to ensure long-lasting change.

Bryony can also offer complex psychological assessments to children and adults in regard to understanding capacity, cognitive functioning,

neurodevelopmental assessment, attachment and trauma difficulties and personality problems.

 

Bryony is based in West Cornwall and currently sees adults and young people for assessment and therapy both online and in person.

Sophie is an HCPC registered and chartered Clinical Psychologist who has had the privilege of working with, assessing, and supporting children and adults with a wide range of psychological needs. 

In regards to specialist areas, Sophie has worked with neurodevelopmentally diverse adults, children and young people across Cornwall and other parts of the UK.

 

She is specifically skilled in providing autism spectrum disorder, learning difficulty and learning disability diagnostic assessments.

 

Sophie also has a background of working in clinical health psychology, with particular focuses on supporting the psychological wellbeing of individuals with diabetes, cancer, and epilepsy.

Dr Helen Barrett

Helen works with adults and young people, offering a dependable safe space to develop a strong therapeutic relationship. Her training enables her to draw from a variety of evidence-based models such as Compassion Focussed Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She works as an integrative practitioner, tailoring the therapy to the person’s needs and helping them integrate different parts of themselves.

 

Helen can help you make sense of the difficulties you experience and the issues that are preventing change. Some of these difficulties may involve low mood, low self-esteem, grief and loss, stressful life transitions, anxiety problems, phobias, relationship difficulties or unusual
experiences.

 

Helen works in a trauma-focused way, which means she considers past difficulties in life as important in understanding the present. Exploring these can be key to moving forward and living a life that is more fulfilling.

She also has a heart for helping people connect with nature, art and their community. ​

Dr Helen Barrett is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience supporting people with a range of mental health difficulties across the NHS and charity sector. She is registered with the British Psychological Society and Health & Care Professions Council.

Tessa is a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with 15 years experience working across NHS and private healthcare settings.

Since 2016, she has specialised in the assessment and diagnosis of autism and ADHD in adults and young people, and was previously Clinical Lead for a large online neurodevelopmental service. Now working in independent practice, Tessa is passionate about providing accessible and high quality assessment services. She hopes to make neurodevelopmental assessments as meaningful and therapeutic as possible, offering a non-judgmental space to explore an individual’s unique strengths and differences. Tessa also provides consultation and supervision for professionals working in neurodevelopmental services.

Karen is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with The British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Karen has worked in a variety of NHS, third sector, community, and private settings across London since qualifying at Doctorate level in 2006, supporting many adults and young people to find a way forward when faced by the variety of challenges that life can bring.

Karen offers a therapeutic space that aims to provide every client with the opportunity to safely voice concerns and share life experiences at a comfortable pace. Drawing on different psychological therapy models including Existential, Humanistic, Compassion-Focused, and Cognitive-Behavioural, Karen will be led by the client’s priorities for therapy, and work collaboratively to identify and move towards any desired change. Karen has significant experience in working with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and employment stressors. She advocates for the consideration of the complex interplay of physical and psychological experience and has specialist skills in supporting the impact of physical health challenges on the individual and their wider family, social, and care systems. This includes long-term conditions, persistent pain, life-limiting illness, and end of life - any change in life can present periods of loss, grief, or adjustment, and these experiences can also be supported. Karen is a keen advocator of nature-based therapies and before relocating to Cornwall she had been managing and delivering a Horticultural Therapy project for survivors of torture. Karen still provides consultancy and supervision to this project and plans to offer Ecotherapy opportunities locally.

Karen is currently providing assessment and therapy for adults and young people in person in West Cornwall, and online.

Kimberley Mitchell

Assistant Psychologist

BSc (Hons) Psychology

Kimberley has a BPS-accredited Psychology degree and 4 years of experience in providing crisis mental health support relating to a wide array of difficulties (including: suicidality, relationship problems, mental health diagnoses, and more) for children, young people and adults. She has also held prior posts in research relating to Psychology as well as Paramedic Sciences, and received a 1st for her dissertation investigating the impact of mental health diagnoses on the employability of ex-offenders, which she is currently collaborating with other academics to publish.

Kimberley is particularly adept in conducting school observations to assess for neurodevelopmental diagnoses and providing written reports as part of the diagnostic process. She is extremely passionate about helping individuals of all ages as well as their support networks, and has experience working both online and face to face.
