Private Child ADHD Assessments in Cornwall
Face-to-Face in Hayle, Cornwall
If you are here, you may have been holding questions for some time.
Perhaps school has raised concerns. Perhaps you have noticed patterns at home that feel harder than they should. Perhaps you are trying to understand whether this is anxiety, behaviour, personality - or something more.
Our private child ADHD assessments in Cornwall provide careful, evidence-based diagnostic clarity for families seeking a structured and clinically robust pathway.
A thoughtful, structured assessment process
This is not a tick-box exercise.
We follow recognised NICE guidance and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, using structured interviews and multiple sources of information to ensure the outcome is balanced, robust, and clinically sound.
The aim is to understand the whole picture - not just whether criteria are met.
Our Assessment Process
1. Detailed Background Information
Before appointments begin, we gather:
-
A structured ADHD screening measure
-
A comprehensive developmental questionnaire completed by parents
-
Structured feedback from school
This allows us to understand your child’s history, patterns across environments, and developmental profile before we meet.
2. Clinical Interview
You and your child will attend a detailed clinical interview with the lead clinician in Hayle.
This conversation explores:
-
Attention and concentration patterns
-
Impulsivity and activity levels
-
Emotional regulation
-
Social and learning experiences
-
Strengths as well as difficulties
We take time to understand context, development, and how patterns have unfolded over time.
3. School Observation
A discreet 1–2 hour school observation throughout Cornwall allows us to see how your child manages:
-
Classroom demands
-
Transitions
-
Peer interaction
-
Task persistence
-
Attention in a natural environment
This step is particularly important in building a reliable, triangulated understanding.
4. QbCheck Assessment
Your child will complete a structured computer-based task called the QbCheck.
This provides objective data on attention, impulsivity and activity levels. It is never used in isolation, but forms one component of the broader clinical picture.
5. Comprehensive Report and Personalised Recommendations
Following the assessment, you will receive a detailed written report.
This includes:
-
A clear explanation of whether ADHD diagnostic criteria are met
-
A thoughtful psychological formulation explaining how patterns fit together
-
Consideration of overlapping or alternative explanations where relevant
-
Your child’s strengths and protective factors
-
Individualised, practical recommendations for home and school
-
Guidance on reasonable adjustments and support strategies
-
Advice on next steps and onward pathways where appropriate
The report is designed to be usable - not just descriptive. It aims to give you clarity and direction, so you are not left wondering what to do next.
6. Feedback and Practical Next Steps
The assessment fee includes a one-hour feedback session with your lead clinician.
During this session, we will:
-
Talk through the outcome carefully
-
Answer your questions
-
Discuss how the recommendations can be applied in real life
-
Help you feel confident about the next steps
Our goal is not simply to provide a diagnosis.
It is to provide clarity, understanding, and practical guidance - so you feel better equipped to support your child.
For Home-Educated Children
If your child is home educated, we offer a modified assessment pathway that remains thorough while reflecting your child’s learning context. This takes place at our Hayle clinic.

FAQs
Are reports recognised by GPs and schools?
Our reports are comprehensive and structured, and many clients use them in discussions with their school and GP. Although reports are accepted you are unlikely to be able to access through the medication with any private diagnosis due to funding changes.
Do you offer medication?
We have partnered with another service who offer medication services to anyone over 12 that receives an ADHD diagnosis through our service. There is very little waiting time for this.
What happens after diagnosis?
We provide clear guidance regarding next steps, including practical strategies, sources of information and tailored therapeutic recommendations. We also include a 1 hour follow up with your clinician.
Do you offer online assessment?
We only offer face-to-face assessments so we can meet with the young person in clinic and observe them in school.
How much does an ADHD assessment cost?
Assessments are £990. We also charge travel time to your child's school based on how far it is from our Hayle clinic.
